How
does it work?
The
Gear Tick's patent pending system attaches faster
than any other hardshell roof top box on the market. This
is done by combining spring loaded front feet with a pivoting
arm. This combination allows the user to quickly apply a
constant amount of pressure which securely attaches the
Gear Tick time after time.
How
long does it take to set up?
It takes
about 5 minutes for the initial adjustment of the Gear
Tick to a new roof rack. After that it can be attached
or removed in 10 seconds.
How
do I know if my rack is strong enough to accept the Gear
Tick?
While
the top aftermarket racks and most of the newer factory
racks should have no problem accepting the Gear Tick,
all racks are not created equal and for that reason we insist
that you perform a simple check of the rack before installing
the Gear Tick. You can do this by grabbing the
crossbar near the tower (piece attaching the crossbars to
the car) and giving a hard pull. The car should move with
no movement of the tower. Repeat
this at all four towers.
What
makes the Gear Tick more durable than most other cargo boxes?
The
Gear tick is molded with the same process used
to make Kayaks and plastic playground equipment. This process
allows us to use a more durable plastic pellet that is heated
as it's rotated causing more material to gather in the corners
forming a very durable gear box. Many of the cargo boxes
on the market are stretched from a sheet of plastic which
thins the corners where strength is needed most.
What
airlines accept the Gear Tick?
While
the Gear Tick should be accepted by most airlines,
regulations are changing all the time, so we advise you
to check your carriers website. The Gear Tick will
usually fall under the requirements for a hard sided Golf
Carrier in the luggage section of your airlines website.
Can The
Gear Tick be locked?
Yes.
We have designed the Gear Tick to be locked by
using simple padlocks. This means no expensive lock cores.
